Why do you grow indoors instead of in a greenhouse?
Indoor growing facilities offer total control of the environment regardless of local weather or geographic location. Employing a closed-loop environmental management system that recirculates and cleans the air ensures that the facility is free of spores and insects, which provides the lowest risk of disease or infestation – and without using pesticides or fungicides. Additional benefits that include naturally higher security and a smaller footprint make enclosed buildings the ideal choice for growing cannabis.
Why do you grow indoors when greenhouses are cheaper and use the free sun?
Greenhouses may appear to be cheaper to build, but they come with technical weaknesses. Greenhouses are affected by the weather; are less productive in the winter; require supplemental lighting, black out curtains and sun screens; are partially open systems; and have issues with uniform heating, cooling and humidity control. Consistency of crop quality on a year-round basis is therefore nearly impossible to maintain, and infestation and contamination risks are much higher than indoors.
Why do you use aeroponics?
Thrive has more than 20 years experience with its patented vertical aeroponics technology. The benefits are: 1) Thrive’s aeroponics technology enables cultivation without soil; 2) reduces the duration of the growing cycle; and 3) minimizes contamination – all within a clean, closed, controlled indoor environment. Using aeroponics to grow cannabis produces more, consistent, repeatable, quality products. Cannabis plants grown aeroponically also provide clean roots that can be processed for pharmaceutical compounds, a revenue stream unavailable to other cultivation methods.
Why do you use LED’s?
Light emitting diode (LED) lights have proven to be the most cost-efficient lighting system for growing cannabis currently on the market, and LEDs out-perform high pressure sodium lighting. Marijuana plants grown under LED lights are more compact and produce more cannabinoids. LEDs produce less heat which makes it easier and less expensive to control the ambient temperature and humidity.
Are you organic certified?
No, it is not allowed. The Organic Trade Association (OTA) recently announced that aeroponic technology is not a cultivation method accepted for organic certification. However, Thrive can grow plants and meet all OTA standards – and beyond – without using any pesticides or fungicides (we don’t even need to use those permitted under an organic designation). Our products exceed all FDA and other governmental standards for product purity.
Why do you grow only single colas?
Using Thrive’s vertical aeroponic technology, plus our early-stage plant pruning techniques, forces the cannabis plant to produce only one large flower, thus achieving the highest growing yield per square foot. Single cola cannabis is less expensive to grow and produces more profit.
Why do you extract the roots?
Cannabis roots are rich in pentacyclic triterpenoid compounds such as friedelin and choline, which are sought after by the pharmaceutical and neutraceutical industries for their anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic properties.

Why do you use the cold press ethanol extraction method?
It is better than other extraction techniques. Cold press ethanol extraction offers the opportunity to capture and isolate more active compounds than just THC and CBD, and with higher yields. A full profile extract maintains the integrity of each strain’s unique mix of cannabinoids and terpenes, thereby preserving the unique medicinal properties and qualities of each strain.
Is your technology scalable?
Thrive’s growing technology is fully scalable. The size of the facility is determined only by the amount of cannabis you want to grow. Furthermore, the facility can be designed to be built in phases to meet your business’ growing demand with minimal disruption to your current growing operation.
How big a building do I need?
The size of the building depends on the production volumes required. Typically, you would plan for at least 5 growing rooms to establish a continuous supply of product every two weeks. Also required are a tissue culture lab/propagation area, an extraction area and common area facilities. A minimum ceiling height of 18 feet is required for single level growing, and 28 feet or more is required for a second level that would maximize the growing capacity for the facility. A typical full-service facility will be about 25,000 square feet, but can be as large as required.
